How did I get here?
My journey toward wellness started in 2013. First, my husband and I joined another couple in a January detox where we eliminated gluten, dairy, and sugar. At the end of the month, when I introduced foods back in, I became sick each time I tried gluten. Much to my sadness, I cut it out of my diet but then found that my joint pain and anxiety attacks went away!
A few months after that, one of our sons started having major anger and behavioral problems. By 3 years old, he had been in speech therapy and physical therapy and now we were visiting a behavioral therapist. The therapist told us he was autistic, but I knew there was more to the story. I was a mom with questions on a mission for answers. We ended up with a doctor who was very much what I refer to as “conventional meets holistic.” She wasn’t anti-anything but believed that not everyone’s bodies can handle the same things. She ran some tests and confirmed that he wasn’t autistic, but that he had high levels of heavy metals in his body. She also discovered his MTHFR mutation and educated us as to what his body could and couldn’t handle. With her help, it was not long before the light was back in our sweet boy’s eyes and he was thriving. Today, you would never know he has the history he does.

Between my experience with gluten and my son’s health experience, I found myself doing lots of research on holistic lifestyle. For years it was just a passion and then I took the leap to become a certified Nutritional Therapist Practitioner (NTP.) Just as food and lifestyle have helped my family, I know many others can be supported as well through methods that are bio-individual to each person’s needs.
